With development of Daniel Island nearing completion, The Retreat is the final neighborhood to be offered within this award-winning community. Located on the northernmost edge of Daniel Island Park, this coastal enclave will offer residents the privacy and coastal setting of a unique archipelago of islands, while still enjoying close proximity to the private amenities of the Daniel Island Club, the conveniences of Daniel Island and the world-famous attractions of Charleston. A neighborhood dock, scenic pavilion, and boat launch are among the amenities that will be exclusive to residents at The Retreat. The first offering of homesites in this neighborhood will be offered in spring of 2023.
Overall, Daniel Island spans 4,000 acres and is surrounded by rivers, creeks and Charleston Harbor, Daniel Island boasts 23 miles of shoreline, offering residents access to boating, fishing, swimming, crabbing and other aquatic pursuits. More than 400 acres of this sea island have been transformed into an array of parks and open green space, and more than 25 miles of leisure trails traverse the island, meandering through neighborhoods and parks, along the marsh and through the island's downtown.
The island also offers a private country club, the Daniel Island Club, which features two 18-hole golf courses designed by Tom Fazio and Rees Jones in a setting of Lowcountry marsh, parkland and tidal creeks. The club also offers swim, tennis and fitness amenities and several options for fine and casual dining, plus a year-round calendar of social and sporting events.
Off the island, there is much to explore. From the vibrant and historic streets of downtown Charleston - ranked by several national media outlets as the country's top travel destination - to Atlantic beaches, world-class culinary offerings, historic plantations and more, Charleston truly offers something for everyone. And when the need to travel arises, Charleston's newly renovated airport is just a 15 minute drive from the neighborhoods of Daniel Island.
Daniel Island is the 2007 recipient of the Urban Land Institute's prestigious 'Awards for Excellence'.
