Vero Beach, FL (Oct. 24, 2014) - Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club is looking forward to the upcoming season with the Grand Opening of their newly enhanced Golf Club and the addition of  two new Chefs to its Culinary Team.

At the new Golf Club, Members will be able to enjoy different dining experiences within the total venue.  They will have the  choice of dining in a booth, banquette, at the elegant bar, or at a table either inside or outside on the beautiful new veranda! Other aspects to the renovation include a newly designed entry and lobby, a total kitchen remodel and two fire pits on the veranda.  "I am certain the facility will provide a comfortable space for everyone and that our Members will enjoy our outside fire pit area where they can spend quality time with friends or family, either before or after dinner," stated General Manager, Rob Tench.

Along with this exciting enhancement to the Golf Club, Members will get to experience outstanding cuisine from newly hired Executive Chef Chris Sozio.  Chef Sozio comes to Orchid Island after an 18-year history with John's Island.  He was formally trained, graduating from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY in 1986, and has worked in a number of fine restaurants and resorts, including The Mayflower Inn in Washington, CT, The Manele Bay Hotel in Lanai, HI and Caneel Bay Resort in St. John, U.S.V.I.  He resides in Sebastian with his wife Elizabeth and daughter who is a sophomore at Sebastian High School.  His son is in the US Navy and currently stationed in Bahrain. On his off time he enjoys boating, fishing and traveling. "I am very excited to be part of the Orchid Island Team and provide the Members exceptional dishes that entice the appetite," shared Chef Sozio. 

Chef Sozio will also have a great support system with newly hired Sous Chef, Michael VanBuskirk and long-time Orchid Island  Executive Sous Chef Wayan Sutriasa.  Chef VanBuskirk, formerly the Chef at Cobalt,  will lead the Golf Club Culinary Team,  and Executive Sous Chef Sutriasa, with his 14 year tenure at Orchid Island, will lead the Beach Club Culinary Team.
