Bella Vista, AR (June 25, 2014) - Bella Vista was named one of the safest places in Arkansas by Movoto Real Estate Blog.

The recreation community, which ranked No. 2 on the list, was recognized as the place people are least likely to become a victim.

Movoto chose cities with populations greater than 10,000 that reported data to the FBI’s Uniform Crime in 2012. In Arkansas, there are 35 cities that met this qualification. Movoto looked at crimes, including murder, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, theft and vehicle theft and those crimes were divided into four distinct categories: murders, violent crimes, property crimes and total crimes. In order to produce a fair comparison, the crime rates for each city were based on crimes per 100,000 people.

“With just 777 total crimes per 100,000 people, including 685 property crimes and 92 violent crimes per 100,000, Bella Vista locals have just a one in 129 chance of being the victim of a crime; the lowest likelihood in our analysis,” according to Movoto. “The only reason Bella Vista ranked No. 2 and not No. 1, it seems, were the four reported murders per 100,000 in 2012.”

Other Arkansas cities to make the cut are Siloam Springs, Sherwood, Mountain Home, Rogers, Bentonville, Magnolia, Russellville, Maumelle and Cabot.
