Sarasota, FL (April 9, 2014) - Pat and John Neal have donated $2,500 to the All Faiths Food Bank “Campaign Against Summer Hunger”, which kicked off on April 1 and will run through May 10, 2014.

“The number of children who go hungry over the summer is staggering. It’s easy to forget that some children, who receive assistance at school and receive free or reduced lunches, won’t receive that same help when school is over during the summer,” said Pat Neal, president and CEO of Neal Communities. “The mission of the All Faiths Food Bank is one we strongly support; these are local children from local families that we are feeding, ” said Neal.

The 40-day Campaign Against Summer Hunger began on April 1, 2014 with a campaign kick-off event and press conference at 8am at Michael’s on East in Sarasota. Several community events will follow with a campaign wrap up on May 10, 2014 when local mail carriers will help collect donations.

During the Campaign, non-perishable food donations will be accepted year-round at Goodwill Manasota locations as well as Sarasota County fire stations, and cash donations are welcome. The goal of the campaign is to gather 600,000 pounds of food, which is equivalent to $1 million, to keep children and their families fed over the summer when school is out of session.

“Even if we reach this hearty goal, there will still be a need in our community,” said Sandra Frank, chief executive officer for All Faiths Food Bank. “A sponsorship of $500 will provide 1,000 meals for children over the summer, so the generous donation from Neal Communities helps us make a great impact, and will help us in our efforts to feed 21,000 local children this summer,” she said.
