Peoria, AZ (Oct. 14, 2013) - Trilogy at Vistancia residents, Rex McDowell and his wife, moved from Portland, Oregon to the sunny state of Arizona. They’ve always loved life and have kept a very active lifestyle. But, now that they’re at Trilogy, they seem to have hit a whole new stride. Activities they’ve been doing for years are now more enjoyable, and they’ve both found themselves blossoming in Vistancia’s fun, exciting 55+ resort community.

Meet Rex! Here’s how he said he found his new home at Trilogy at Vistancia.

Before moving to Trilogy, we visited dozens of different Active Adult Communities in the US. Each year, part of our vacation plans would include a “Stay and Play” experience쳌 at one of the many age restricted, active lifestyle, resort living communities in Arizona, California and Florida. Between these trips, we lived in Portland, Oregon, which is one of the nicest cities in the US…and the nicest weather for 3 months a year, the other 9 months not so much.

My regular routine was this: work all day, go home to a really nice house, in a really nice neighborhood. Once or twice a week I’d drive to tennis courts a half hour away. A couple times a month I’d drive a 1/2 hour to get together with friends. During winter months, I barely saw the sun. It was dark when I went to work and when I came home, and tennis was always inside. My wife’s routine was very similar.

Three years ago we took another couple weeks off traveling through Arizona at about a half dozen Stay and Plays. We stayed at Trilogy, and I fell in love as soon as we drove through the front gate and saw the Kiva Club. When we got back to Portland, we decided that we would take the next step. I had a phone interview for a job the first week we were back, and they flew me down the next day for a final interview. Our Trilogy sales person gave me a pass to hang around the pool for a couple days. We took the job, and our real estate person, who is now a friend, found us a rental for 3 months. We decided to try it out.

The community fits us perfectly. We met really nice people everywhere we went. People invited us to play tennis, golf, attend parties, meet at Tuesday social. With the sun shining 99% of the time and all the nice people, we eventually decided to stay…

As you would guess, the people in the neighborhood are all becoming great friends, and are from all over the US and Canada. We are looking forward to when they move here full time too. My schedule now is playing tennis all year round 3 or 4 times a week; riding my bike to the tennis courts; playing pickle ball; ride my bike (sometimes with Trilogy’s bike club); and playing golf. I play much more golf during summer months while the prices are so good. The summer does not slow us down much, it is really a DRY heat. I often golf or play tennis when it is over 100 degrees.

Our social schedule is also busy. We are members of the wine club, which is a great group. There are over 500 members. There are tennis socials, pickle ball, hiking club, biking club, line dancing socials, and Friday night socials at the Kiva Club – we take swing dance classes with another couple – and lots of other social gatherings.

My wife got to semi-retire, so her schedule is even more busy than mine. She golfs with girls, plays pickle ball, swims laps, meets people at the pool, goes to water aerobics, as well as other exercise classes, line dances at least once a week, takes east coast swing classes, hits the gym, goes over the driving range, takes guys and gals golf lessons, takes Spanish classes, rides her bike, and keeps up with our great snowbird friends. This year she got a few singing and commercial parts in the Trilogy Players’ American Band Stand production. This was her first attempt at anything like this, and I think she did a wonderful job!

This group also is very social with lots of nice people, like all the other groups here…We love it here and feel this move to Trilogy was one of the best decisions that we’ve made. I’m just looking forward to retiring so I can be even more involved.

Rex’s story is like many who choose to move to Vistancia. Trilogy is about more than purchasing a home. It’s a community atmosphere that changes lives and enhances the things that make life so great.
