Partners with Lake James Residents to Raise more than $33,000 for Foothills Conservancy
LAKE JAMES, N.C. (October 4, 2016) - Crescent Communities, one of the premier real estate developments on Lake James, recently hosted the fourth annual Sweet Lucy’s Affair to raise money for the Foothills Conservancy of North Carolina. The Leadership Circle, consisting of 14 couples from around the lake, partnered with Lake James - Crescent Communities to sponsor and host the event, which raised more than $33,000 for further conservation of the Lake James area. Over the past four years, the event has raised more than $99,000.
Sweet Lucy’s Affair, which was an invitation-only event, was attended by more than 128 residents and guests of the Lake James community. It featured entertainment by Thirsty Horses and delicious local cuisine.
“We strive every day to be good stewards of the environment and to preserve the land and water of Lake James for generations to come. That’s why we are so passionate about what the Foothills Conservancy stands for and the land that they are protecting,” said Crawford Craige, manager of development for Lake James - Crescent Communities.
To date, Foothills Conservancy has helped expand Lake James State Park by 3,000 acres including 30 miles of protected shoreline and also conserved 6,500 acres surrounding the lake and bordering the Linville Gorge National Wilderness through additions to Pisgah National Forest and N.C. Wildlife Resources Game Lands.
“Our partnership with Lake James - Crescent Communities began ten years ago when they adopted conservation development designs for their newer lakefront subdivisions and as our land trust worked with them and other community partners to achieve large-scale public conservation objectives around Lake James,” explains Susie Hamrick Jones, executive director of Foothills Conservancy of North Carolina. “Together, we’ve been able to make great progress toward preserving and sustaining the beauty and clean waters of Lake James. Crescent’s developments and their focus on conservation is a model for the development community at large.”
“As more development occurs in and around the Lake James area, it is becoming apparent that conservation and sustainability are trademarks of Lake James - Crescent Communities, as well as core values that truly set us apart,” said Craige. “Sustainability and conservation always have been priorities for us. The pristine beauty of Lake James and the miles of natural hiking trails that twist and turn throughout the area provide residents and guests countless ways to get out and enjoy nature. That isn’t something that can be replicated anywhere else, and it’s something that we must fight to keep as natural as possible. We continually work to ensure that natural buffers along the shorelines protect the lake and protect our residents’ privacy as well. Our residents are drawn to the natural beauty of Lake James, and it is our responsibility to keep it that way.”
Lake James - Crescent Communities offers the rustic elegance of an upscale lakefront community on the waters of Lake James. Located at the base of the Blue Ridge, between Asheville and Charlotte, Lake James is an ideal location, with pristine shorelines, resort-style amenities, planned activities, miles of hiking trails and convenient access to the best of Western North Carolina. Homes and homesites are available now.
