The Appalachian Ridge and Valley Province in the northwest is characterized by rolling hills and valleys. It contains the highest point in New Jersey, aptly named High Point.
The Triassic Lowlands in the central part of the state is a flat region with fertile soil. This is the most populous region of New Jersey.
The Coastal Plain in the southeast is a low-lying region with sandy beaches and barrier islands. This region is home to the popular resort town, Atlantic City.
The Highlands Region in the north is a hilly region with rocky cliffs, forests, as well as many lakes and river.
Weather
New Jersey's climate is temperate, with four distinct seasons. The state's location on the Atlantic coast means that it experiences both continental and maritime influences. Summers are warm and humid, with average highs in July in the mid-80s Fahrenheit (around 30 degrees Celsius). Winters are cold and snowy, with average lows in January in the mid-20s Fahrenheit (around -5 degrees Celsius). The northern part of the state is generally colder and snowier than the southern part.
New Jersey is also susceptible to severe weather events, such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and nor'easters. Hurricanes are most common in late summer and early fall, while tornadoes can occur at any time of year. Nor'easters are winter storms that can bring heavy snow, rain, and wind.

New Jersey Healthcare
