Sarasota, FL (Jan. 21, 2014) – The two-bedroom, two-bath Florencia – one of six model homes currently under construction at Sarasota National – will balance old and new, modern and rustic, and light and dark in its transitional interior design created by Kay Green Design. WCI Communities has selected the Winter Park, Fla. firm to design the 2,039-square-foot model, the largest of three Grand Villa floor plans recently introduced at Sarasota National, WCI’s newest community.

The Florencia will meld contrasting textures and furniture designs: hand-rubbed ivory-hued cabinetry in bathrooms, espresso-finished cabinets in the kitchen; clean-lined contemporary glass and metal furniture with traditional pieces, and a palette of sunny yellow, crisp whites and sapphire blues with hints of lemongrass and gray.

Kay Green Design has chosen an eclectic mix of dark and light woods accented with woven, painted and white gloss furnishings and finishes.

One of seven floor plans available at Sarasota National, the Florencia offers a dining room, den, great room, breakfast nook and 2,868 total square feet, including an attached two-car garage and lanai. Its great room design emphasizes openness between kitchen and breakfast nook, with a wall of sliding glass doors extending gathering spaces to the 275-square-foot lanai.

The model home overlooks nature preserves, lakes and fairways of the community’s 18-hole Gordon Lewis-designed championship golf course.

The design firm will accent the floor plan’s tray ceilings in the foyer, dining room, owner’s bedroom and great room with painted tongue-and-groove inserts framed by millwork. The foyer will set the tone for a fun and bright design with contrasting horizontal bands of gray and white painted stripes and a sunny yellow painted ceiling foreshadowing a color reappearing in patterns of pillow fabric, accessories and artwork.

The dining room will have a rectangular table and sculptural pieces: a console, chairs with flared legs and a sunburst mirror.

The den will be designed as a golf retreat and home office, complete with a TV, a comfortable love seat, dark wood desk with metal legs, and a club chair covered in small-scale hounds tooth. Neutral upholstery will provide a canvas for accent pillows featuring windowpane, woven and soft graphic patterns.

The design firm also will create a built-in on one wall, featuring a stained beechwood beadboard back.

The model’s travertine tile floor will provide a neutral backdrop for the great room’s combination of contemporary and classic furnishings, represented by the soft curves of the sofa and loveseat, arm chairs trimmed in wood and nail head, a dark wood TV console, square glass and metal end tables, a rustic console and carved round antique table.

Upholstered pieces in gray and cream will be accented with floral fabrics and chevron-printed pillows in citrus, the latter pattern and color repeated in the woven cocktail table.

The kitchen will feature dark contemporary cabinets with light countertops. Dark wood barstools with flared legs will cozy up to the breakfast bar at the free-standing island, which has a dishwasher and divided sink.

The kitchen also offers a pantry and adjoining breakfast nook, which will feature a traditional white farm-style table contrasted by the dark wood frames of its upholstered chairs.

The Florencia’s colors will be saturated in the owner’s retreat with deep sapphire and gray backdrops and decorative patterned pillows offering hints of lemongrass and softer blues against whites and soft grays.

The decorative ceiling inset will boast a diamond design; the bed wall will be accented with mirror inserts framed in wood millwork. The bedroom also will feature an upholstered tufted headboard, antiqued silver nightstands, a soft curving loveseat and dark wood dresser.

The suite also offers a large walk-in closet and a tiled bathroom with his-and-her vanities, a separate shower and tub, and water closet.

The Florencia’s second bedroom, envisioned for a son attending college and doubling as a guestroom, will feature a tongue-and-groove beechwood stained wood bed wall and a mix of painted gray and dark wood-toned furnishings. Accent pillows, bedding and accessories will boast deeper charcoal grays and chocolate, with animal-inspired stripes and a moiré pattern with color variations from Pantone’s 2014 color of the year – radiant orchid – to lighter lavenders, grays and blues.

The model is expected to be completed and open for viewing by February 2014. The Florencia floor plan is base priced from $264,990.
