(Feb. 13, 2013) – The addition of 42 new golf members at Venetian Golf & River Club in 2012 tripled the year’s projections and edged total memberships closer to its cap, announced WCI Communities, which is developing the 1,039-acre master-planned community along a scenic stretch of the Myakka River in Venice, Fla.
“Our budget for 2012 was 13, and we sold 42 new memberships,” said Simone Coseo, director of membership sales. “We started 2013 with 315 golf members and our cap is 400.”
Four of the 36 new nonrefundable memberships included non-resident members.
“We are pleased to welcome these members who have made Venetian their golf club of choice,” said Dan Callender, general manager of Venetian Golf & River Club. “The Venice-Sarasota area is a very competitive golf market, and our newest members support our conviction that our club provides value and quality both on and off the course.”
Coseo said membership is capped at 400 to enhance the golf experience. Venetian offers five levels of membership: golf and social dining, full family, single and corporate memberships with refundable and nonrefundable initiation fees. Members enjoy formal and casual dining, a full calendar of social programs and advanced tee times.
Full memberships are entitled to year-round golf at Venetian as well as summertime reciprocal play at private courses throughout Southwest Florida. WCI’s Member Advantage Program also provides golf and dining privileges at its area clubs, including The Colony Golf & Bay Club and Raptor Bay, both in Bonita Springs, Pelican Preserve in Fort Myers, Tiburón in Naples and the Bay Club at Westshore Yacht Club in Tampa.
Full golf memberships also benefit from WCI’s strategic partnership with ClubCorp, which provides exclusive access to more than 150 private golf, business and sports clubs around the country. ClubCorp’s Signature Gold program affords golf members at Venetian two complimentary rounds of golf and two four-course meals monthly at participating clubs, paying just cart fees and beverages, taxes and gratuities for the meals.
By signing up in 2012, Coseo said new members also saved money; initiation fees increased $750 on Jan. 1. The club’s young professional members, those ages 21 to 44, are now locked into 2012 rates should they decide sometime in the future to become full golf members.
Venetian Golf & River Club offers an array of amenities, including an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Chip Powell and a 20,000-square-foot Golf Club, where members can enjoy fine and casual dining and a full calendar of events.
The recipient of a Golf Digest four-star rating for “Best Places to Play,” Venetian’s Powell-designed course pays homage to the vintage era of Donald Ross and Alister Mackenzie golf. Five sets of tee markers accommodate any skill level.
The Golf Club offers men’s and ladies’ lounges and lockers, a grill and golf shop. Its private members-only second floor features a dining room, expansive veranda overlooking the 18th hole and a rooftop terrace. Social activities and golf events are designed to foster member camaraderie.
The Venetian River Club features dining with a view of the 70-acre Nature Park along the river, as well as a fitness center and aerobics studio, locker rooms, lap pool, resort-style pool with cabana bar and six-court Har-Tru courts tennis center. The Nature Park includes the River Walk boardwalk and picnic gazebo.
