Cyber-Browsing For Golf Homes
Cases of buyer's remorse are common and sometimes extreme when the item in question is a golf course home. But two businesswomen who founded the Private Communities Registry have a solution. Their two-year-old Internet website (www.PrivateCommunities.com) offers in-depth data on 30 upscale golf developments (the majority of which are in the Southeast) in a non-promotional format.
"Most people approach a home purchase with the feeling they're missing something, no matter how much thought they've given it," says Lil Miller, president of PCR. "They feel the need to make lots of repeat visits. It's a complex process, and we wanted to help streamline it. People need a place where they can gather information before they initiate conversation with an agent."
Because entrepreneurial telecommuters are considered an important, dynamic segment of the real estate industry, golf community-oriented websites like PCR have become important conduits of information.
