Club Structure: All owners in 1780 and Old Wildlife Club and any future Crescent community on Lake James are members of Camp Lake James. A limited number of recreational licenses are available.
Recreation: Extensive walking trails, state and national parks, waterfront activities, boat slips, canoe and kayak expeditions, outdoor pavilions, numerous opportunities for bird and deer watching and snow skiing, as well as fishing nearby. Local North Carolina towns offer Appalachian arts communities, historic sites, dining, motor sports and fall foliage. And, all lake-access homesites have a dedicated boat slip in community docks.
Walking Trails: An extensive network of trails runs through both, 1780 and Old Wildlife Club. Trails in 1780 connect residents to Camp Lake James and the Lake James State Park. A 3.5 mile portion of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail also runs through 1780, and will eventually connect to the Mountains to the Sea Trail, allowing hikers to travel the entire width of North Carolina.
Skiing: The high country of western North Carolina is a popular skiing and snowboarding destination. Residents have easy access to nearby ski resorts including Appalachian Ski Mountain, Sugar Mountain Resort, and Ski Beech, each located within an hour to an hour and a half away.
Lake: Set against the Linville Gorge Wilderness and the Pisgah National Forest, Lake James is the first in North Carolina’s Catawba chain of lakes, offering 150 miles of shoreline and more than 6,800 surface acres, ideal for water skiing, boating and fishing.
