Named one of the top seven safe havens in the country by Town & Country magazine, The Ford Plantation is a private coastal sporting community set along Georgia's coast, just south of Savannah on the Ogeechee River.

With a rich history dating back to 1734, this property was once a productive rice plantation and later a winter retreat for Henry Ford. Today it is a private sporting club with Low Country-inspired residences situated on 1,800 majestic acres. Shaded by ancient oaks with deep water frontage on the Ogeechee River, only 400 owners will have the privilege of calling The Ford Plantation home.

A multigenerational membership structure offers members and their families access to a wealth of activities including golf, fishing, horseback riding, boating, racquet sports, swimming, sporting clays, hiking, biking, and fitness training. The club also offers superb regional cuisine, a full complement of spa services, a resident naturalist, and licensed professional fishing guides. Send me information now!

Acreage
1,800 acres (720 hectares)
The Main House
The Ford Plantation sits on one of the earliest land grants made in the Colony of Georgia. Over the course of its history, the land was once home to three plantations: Dublin, Silk Hope and Cherry Hill.

In the early 1920s, industrialist Henry Ford started purchasing land in the area. He eventually accumulated 70,000 acres, covering 120 square miles. In 1936, Ford broke ground on a beautiful Greek revival style mansion on the banks of the Ogeechee River. The grand house, made of Savannah-gray brick, had marble steps, air conditioning, and an elevator. It sat on 55 acres of manicured lawns and flowering gardens and remains the centerpiece of The Ford Plantation today.

6 Reviews From Residents

Paul and Heather

Resident Since 2011

"We Looked Everywhere... And Settled Here"

Felt like home from the first moment we visited. The community is welcoming, the facilities are wonderful and the views are breathtaking. Every day brings a new adventure and new friends. We love it here.

Vanita M.

Resident Since 1999

"Times gone by"

Living here gives us a sense of times gone by when life was simpler and families were close together. We have seven children and seven grandchildren, and without exception all of them love to visit us here. Since the club considers them members too, they feel totally included in our Ford Family.

Buzz R.

Resident Since 2002

"Moved by the natural surroundings"

We were immediately moved by the natural surroundings of The Ford Plantation: the old live oaks, preserved marshland, shimmering lakes and riverside setting. We also loved the proximity to Savannah. Ford is just about 20 minutes outside the historic, charming city, with all its culture and fine dining.
