Sylva, NC (September 26, 2019) — Balsam Mountain Preserve, a conservation-oriented residential community in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, has awarded Asheville-based interior design firm, Alchemy Design Studio, the contract to design the commercial components of the community’s upcoming Doubletop Village. This will include the Village’s restaurant and bar, the Summit House and Mine Tavern, and the General Store and Pro Shop. Set in a prime location within the 4,400-acre preserve, overlooking Balsam’s Arnold Palmer Signature golf course and Plott Balsam Mountain Range, Doubletop Village is a mountain hamlet of dining and recreational amenities currently under development and is scheduled to open in early 2020.

Specializing in the creation of authentic and thoughtful design, Alchemy Design Studio was also responsible for the interiors of Balsam Mountain Preserve’s recently renovated Ruby Valley Fitness and Wellness Pavilion. The firm has also been privately contracted by multiple Balsam homeowners for a variety of residential projects.

“The upcoming Doubletop Village will become the new heart of Balsam Mountain Preserve,” shared Joe Dellinger, Chief Operating Officer at Balsam Mountain Preserve. “Alchemy Design Studio’s extensive and varied portfolio, including previous Balsam Mountain Preserve projects, made them the natural choice to extend the Balsam vision into its next chapter with Doubletop Village.”

Under the guidance of Alchemy Design Studio’s owner and principal designer, Traci Kearns, the team is incorporating natural and organic materials to celebrate the area’s natural beauty, staying true to Balsam Mountain Preserve’s overarching commitment to nature. Many finishes, including furniture, lighting and accents will also be sourced from local artisans.

“We are thrilled to be part of Balsam Mountain Preserve’s continued enhancement and evolution,” shared Kearns. “Our design intention is to remain authentic to the Balsam ethos and bring the outdoors in through thoughtfully selected materials and accents that speak to the community’s aesthetic.”

The Mine Tavern will feature a 3,968-square-foot indoor and outdoor bar for day or evening gatherings. The décor will include a variety of seating vignettes and a darker color palate, making the space intimate, yet casual. The Summit House will feature a traditional dining space with 7,000-square-feet to accommodate 80 guests indoors and 50 guests outside on a picturesque patio. A large glass wall will separate the deck space from the restaurant’s interior providing spectacular mountain views for diners. The space will also feature a demonstration kitchen, a wine-tasting room and a private dining room that can seat 14 guests. The General Store and Pro Shop will serve as a convenient and charming one-stop shop for residents. Retail items will include everything from homewares, prepared and staple food items, wine and local goods to clothing and sporting goods.
