Beaufort, SC (June 10, 2019) - Dataw Island Club is honored to host the Women’s South Carolina Golf Association Amateur Championship. A field of about 50 players will vie for the coveted Inez Long Trophy and Amateur Champion titles over three days of play, with the final round culminating in an awards ceremony Thursday afternoon at 2:30 pm. 

The Women’s South Carolina Golf Association (WSCGA) exists to promote and serve the best interests of women’s golf in South Carolina. Founded in 1949, the non-profit WSCGA membership is made up of more than 275 South Carolina Golf Clubs with more than 14,000 women golfers receiving GHIN handicaps. Recognized throughout the United States as one of the premiere Women’s Golf Associations in the country, WSCGA upholds traditions, policies, and high values in regard to the great game of golf.

These Amateur Championship competitors hail from throughout the state of South Carolina, with several from the Lowcountry, including: Camila Burnett, Berkeley Hall Club; Sophia Burnett, Colleton River Club; Susan Harden, Sanctuary Golf Club; Renee Rezzetano, Hampton Hall Club; and Izzy Stone, Legends at Parris Island. Spectators are welcome; all play will be on Tom Fazio’s Cotton Dike course, with tee times beginning at 8:00 am on Tuesday and Wednesday, and a 9:00 am shotgun start on Thursday. The competitors will be provided lunch on Tuesday and Thursday and have been invited to utilize the Pub and the Cotton Dike Deli on Wednesday.
