Construction updates and new amenities for western North Carolina community

Sylva, NC (May 9, 2019) — Balsam Mountain Preserve, a conservation-oriented residential community in the Blue Ridge Mountains, is pleased to announce that vertical construction is underway for the community’s upcoming Doubletop Village. Set in a prime location within the 4,400-acre preserve overlooking its Arnold Palmer Signature golf course and Plott Balsam Mountain Range, Doubletop Village is a mountain hamlet of dining, recreational amenities and residential cottages scheduled to open in early 2020.

The progress at Doubletop Village follows the recent unveiling of several newly designed amenities at Balsam Mountain Preserve, including the new Ruby Valley Fitness and Wellness Pavilion and the Palmer Practice Park, a state-of-the-art hybrid practice facility featuring par 3, driving range and pitch and putt capabilities.

“Foundations are complete, and framing is underway for several of the featured Doubletop Village amenities, including The Summit House and Mine Tavern as well as the model cottage,” shared Joe Dellinger, Chief Operating Officer at Balsam Mountain Preserve. “The highly anticipated Doubletop Village and the dramatic enhancement of community amenities continue to attract a wide range of multigenerational buyers to Balsam.”

See below for further updates on the progress at Doubletop Village:

The Summit House

The Summit House is a members’ grille that will serve as the onsite restaurant for Doubletop Village. Featuring two stories, the restaurant’s second-floor decking is now in place. The 7,000-square-foot Member’s Grille will accommodate 80 guests indoors and 50 guests outside. The space will also feature a demonstration kitchen, a wine-tasting room and a private dining room that can seat 14 guests.

Mine Tavern

With framing and vertical walls in place, construction on the Mine Tavern is advancing quickly. Named for the area’s colorful history as a mining community, the tavern will feature a 3,968-square-foot indoor and outdoor bar with seating for 20. Residents will be able to store their day packs in Mine Tavern’s day lockers while enjoying a local craft beer and special grill menu by the fireplace or on the outdoor terrace.

“Foxtown” Model Cottage

Designed by renowned Atlantan architecture firm Harrison Design, the model cottage for the residential component of Doubletop Village is currently being framed. The roof trusses are in place and the first and second levels have dried in. The model cottage will represent the Foxtown plan with 2,822 square feet, three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. Foxtown is one of four designs available for the 23 cottages, with prices starting in the $700,000s and ranging up to just over $1 million.

In addition to the vertical progress on the community’s amenities and model cottage, hydroseeding is underway, meaning that by May, Doubletop Village is expected to be bursting with green. The community’s Great Lawn will feature bocce and croquet courts and will offer residents a friendly outdoor gathering space.

Balsam Mountain Preserve

Balsam Mountain Preserve is a low-density, conservation-orientated private residential community set on 4,400 acres in the North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville. Surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest, the Pisgah National Forest and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Balsam Mountain Preserve was created as a “community within a park.” With an ethos centered on land-stewardship, seventy-five percent (3,400 acres) of the property has been placed in a permanent conservation easement, ensuring the preservation of its present park-like state in perpetuity. Refined amenities of the community include an Arnold Palmer Signature golf course, equestrian center, sports & wellness center, pool, nature center, tennis courts, guided hiking, fishing and camping opportunities, gathering house and food & beverage offerings. The new Doubletop Village, currently under construction, will consist of a grouping of stunning club facilities featuring a new Members’ Grille with a private dining room and an expansive terrace for outdoor dining. The Grille will overlook the practice park, golf course, valleys and mountains beyond. Across the courtyard, the Club Tavern will offer casual indoor and outdoor restaurant service. The Village will also feature a General Store and Golf House, as well as an organic farm, Great Lawn for bocce, croquet, badminton, putting green and other sports.
