November 27, 2018 (Brevard, NC) – The Connestee Falls Property Owners Association (CFPOA) has announced the hiring of new Executive Chef John Huffenberger to the team at the Overlook Clubhouse.
Huffenberger is an ACF Certified Chef de Cuisine who has worked in the hospitality industry for fifteen years. He has spent eight years in management and nine years in private dining.
“We are very excited to welcome John to the team and his arrival completes the major renovation process for our beautiful new clubhouse,” said CFPOA General Manager/COO Jim Whitmore. “John is the perfect fit as he truly enjoys and prefers private dining operations due to the familiarity of cooking for members and their guests.”
While attending culinary school, Huffenberger worked in the gourmet food industry at the high-volume Emeril’s in Universal Studios City Walk, Orlando, FL. He received all-encompassing seafood experience while working at The Market in downtown Columbus, GA. There he butchered whole fish from almost daily deliveries and gained extensive expertise in the many ways of cooking different types of seafood. His first experience with private dining was at the Green Island Country Club in Columbus. The bulk of his management and fine dining experience comes from his six and a half years at the Big Eddy Club, a 400-member private dining club in Columbus. Huffenberger comes to Connestee Falls from his current position at the Country Club of Mobile in Alabama.
He and his wife Jenny have a three-year-old daughter, with another daughter due right at Christmas. They are looking forward to relocating to Western North Carolina in the coming weeks and are thrilled to have the opportunity to make the beautiful Brevard area their new home.
CFPOA recently completed a $2.5 million interior renovation of the Overlook Clubhouse. The 26,000 square foot facility features a broad range of food and beverage areas including the Carolina Dining Room, a full-service member only restaurant, the adjacent Blue Ridge Lounge and the Sports Grill and Bar that provides casual food service for residents, members and golfers.
Connestee Falls is a gated master planned community established in 1971 owned and operated by its residents. It encompasses approximately 3,800 acres with half the land set aside in conservation and nature areas. There are extensive recreational amenities including four stocked lakes, championship golf course, a clubhouse, parks, tennis, pickleball and aquatic centers and over 14 miles of private hiking trails. The Connestee Falls Property Owners Association office is located at 33 Connestee Trail, Brevard, NC 28712.
