Salem, South Carolina (March 19, 2018) The Keowee Key Board of Directors has announced a $14,000,0000 makeover of the largest gated community in the Upstate.  Located on pristine Lake Keowee, the plan includes updating the George Cobb designed championship Golf Course, modernizing the Country Club, introducing a contemporary fast casual dining venue, expanding the Fitness and Racquet Center and adding a second 2 ½ mile paved walking trail. 

The excitement felt by the nearly 3500 residents was expressed by Board President Margaret Eldridge at the Club ground breaking, “It’s been great working with the board, staff and our Keowee Key owners, who overwhelmingly approved this investment. Our local partners, Oconee County, South State Bank, Hogan Construction Company and architects DP3and LS3P have been a very responsive team. The golf course renovation led by well-known architect Richard Mandell, recently named by “Boardroom Magazine” as the Golf Course Architect of the year, and contractor Wadsworth Golf is well underway. Our collection of recreational amenities, vibrant social fabric diverse arts culture, financial stability and value are unmatched in this region.”

Keowee Key is a well-established 45-year-old residential development. It was the first gated community located on Lake Keowee and is one of the largest employers in Oconee County. The community’s residents are well known in the area for their extensive volunteer activities.
