National Fishing Legend and Television Personality Prepares for Fall Filming

Richmond Hill, GA (May 13, 2014) – Bill Dance, one of America’s most respected fishing legends and a beloved television personality, visited WaterWays Township last Monday to observe the progress on his Bill Dance Signature Lake and to consider various locations for the future filming of his show, “Bill Dance Outdoors.” Dance, notorious for donning his infamous Tennessee Volunteers hat and for sharing his love for fishing through education and humor, was joined by his three-man camera crew to scout and test the quality of the championship caliber fishing experience on The Grand Lagoon, the community’s three-and-a-half mile freshwater lake that he helped to design.

Dance, known among the nation’s 45 million anglers as one of the best fishermen in the world, partnered with WaterWays to create the Bill Dance Signature Lake almost five years ago. Only one of 10 Bill Dance Signature Lakes in the country and the only one in Georgia, The Grand Lagoon provides WaterWays residents the opportunity to experience one of the most elite fishing habitats in America.  Dance was personally involved in designing the lake at its inception by incorporating his proven system of fish habitat creation, which included development of natural and man-made habitat structures, establishment of optimal water quality, fertilization, stocking, select harvesting and regular monitoring.

“In WaterWays Township, fishing and other water-related activities are key components of the overall lifestyle enjoyed by our residents, and we are certainly proud to provide such a convenient and memorable experience as a result of our relationship with one of the greatest fishermen of all time,” said Vance Askew – marketing director, WaterWays Township. “I think the team at  Bill Dance Signature Lakes gets as much satisfaction as we do from seeing photos of our residents proudly displaying their latest trophy caught right here in their very own community.”

Dance and his team of professionals premiered “Bill Dance Outdoors” on a Memphis ABC affiliate in 1968. From his home and production studio in Collierville, Tenn., Dance oversees a fishing empire that includes his TV show, tackle endorsements, how-to seminars, a magazine and a series of popular “blooper” videos which include hilarious, self-deprecating outtakes from his shows.
