Spring Island, SC – Spring Island is proud to announce the hiring of a new Executive Chef. After conducting a nationwide search to find a chef whose background, training, experience, and personality best suited the community’s needs, Chef Jeff McKinney, has been hired to lead the culinary team at Spring Island.

McKinney is a member of the American Culinary Federation and was most recently the Interim Executive Chef at Old Palm Golf Club in Palm Beach, Florida. He was previously the Executive Chef at the Orchid Island Club, Jupiter Hills Golf Club and Frenchmen’s Creek CC in Florida. McKinney has been a chef with Ritz Carlton of Palm Beach and St. Louis, and he owned his own restaurant, Bodega Blue, in Vero Beach, FL.

Jeff says that his passion for food began early in life. “I grew up in a large, close knit Irish family with a mother who was passionate about nourishing the bodies, hearts, minds and palates of all of us”.

Spring Island’s General Manager, Tom Noyes says he is thrilled with the hiring of McKinney. “Jeff’s name was the first one that came across my desk when we announced that we were conducting a search. A fellow club manager in Charleston gave his highest recommendation and said we could not go wrong with Jeff. It turned out to be a tough competition between our final few candidates and Jeff has come in and delighted our members, right from the start.”
