Daufuskie Island, SC (Nov. 18, 2013) – The golfers and tennis players at Haig Point Club are coming together this week to raise funds for two local charities.

The Tennis Club members will hold a “Rally for the Cure” tournament Tuesday (Nov. 19) to raise monies for the local association of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, a national organization dedicated to breast cancer education and research for a cure.

On Wednesday (Nov. 20), the Haig Point Women’s Golf Association will conduct a 9-hole golf tournament to benefit the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic of Hilton Head Island. The men’s golf group will follow with a “Closest to the Pin” contest on Saturday (Nov. 23) as part of its regular play to benefit the same organization, whose mission is to provide health care to the underserved population of Hilton Head.

“I am proud of our residents here at Haig Point who always support worthwhile causes and those less fortunate than themselves,” said Randall Page, General Manager and Chief Operating Officer. “This community has all the natural beauty and amenities you could ever want, but it’s the people who live here that really make it a great place to live.”

About Haig Point
Haig Point is a charming sea island community just off the coast of South Carolina, between Hilton Head and Savannah, Ga. There is no bridge, so the island is accessible only by a private ferry system originating from Hilton Head Island.

Residents and guests drive electric carts to the points of interest in and around the community, including the historic Haig Point Lighthouse (built in 1873), Strachan Mansion and the tabby ruins of 19th century slave quarters. The community is also home to a stunning Rees Jones Signature golf course. Amenities at Haig Point Club also include a full-service tennis center, equestrian center, two restaurants and a community park. For more information about the island or real estate opportunities, call (800) 686-3441.
