August 4, 2008 - On a gorgeous evening, under a setting sun painting the sky with scenes fresh from the “Montana Sunset” card section, a group of about 100 supporters of the Watson’s Children Shelter were treated to a sublime mix of stories and songs from some of country music’s most celebrated song writers.

This greeting card scene played out at the new Barn at The Ranch Club at an event called Nashville Stars Under the Big Sky during which upwards of $40,000 was raised for Watson’s “One Isn’t Enough” capital campaign.

The Nashville Stars picked and played some 20 songs, most generating a clap of recognition within the first few chords. The play-list included: “I Loved Her First”, “Beautiful Mess”, “(There’s) No Getting’ Over Me”, and “Holding Her and Loving You” to name just a few.

Along with beautiful lyrics and fantastic instrumentals, the eager crowd was treated to a rare peak behind the curtain as the songwriters themselves told the stories behind the songs.

The line-up of Nashville Stars included local-boy Tim Ryan (Rouillier), feisty performances by Lisa Carver, touching lyrics from Sonny LeMaire and chart-topping hits by Walt Aldridge.

Never far from the surface, though, was the reason for the event and the mission of Watson’s Children Shelter as presented in moving words and video by the shelter’s Executive Director, Fran Albrecht.

While the crowd was smitten by the show, the performers seemed equally twitter patted with Montana and the Big Sky that unfolded in a picture perfect scene from The Ranch Club’s Barn.
