Ocala, FL (June 23, 2014) - Master the Possibilities Center for Lifelong Learning invites you to attend an appearance from horse racing legend, Jacinto Vasquez. The presentation will be held at the Lifelong Learning center on July 14, 2014 at 3 p.m. This is a free event and is open to the public.

Jacinto Vasquez is a retired Hall of Fame thoroughbred jockey with over 30 years of racing experience. He won 5,231 races in his career including the Kentucky Derby with Foolish Pleasure in 1975 and Genuine Risk in 1980. He was also the regular jockey for the Hall of Famer, Ruffian, “Queen of the Fillies”.

Vasquez also rode Hall of Famers Genuine Risk, Forego, Manila, and Princess Rooney, as well as champions Christmas Past, Revidere, Risen Star, Smile, and Lemhi Gold. He also defeated the legendary Secretariat on several occasions.

A few notable races won by Vasquez include the Travers Stakes (2), Breeders’ Cup Sprint, Acorn Stakes (2), Mother Goose Stakes (2), Sanford Stakes (2), Hopeful Stakes, Withers Stakes (2), Saratoga Special (2), and Test Stakes (3).

Jacinto Vasquez was inducted into the National Museum of Racing’s Hall of Fame in 1998. Since his retirement, Vasquez has remained in racing as a highly regarded trainer in Ocala.
