Where to Retire Magazine’s
, “The Short List: 50 Best Master-Planned Communities in the United States” focuses on 50 communities across the US that they select as being the most “amenity-rich, with clubhouses, recreation and activities to keep residents fully engaged.” The selection of communities range in price and most are active-adult communities, requiring residents to meet a minimum age.
“Like the people who inhabit them, no two master-planned developments are exactly alike. Yet, the combination of amenities and social opportunities at each produces a common result: the interesting, active and fulfilling lifestyle retirees seek. Clubhouses, fitness centers, social clubs and educational classes mean residents get much more than a house at a planned community,” said Where to Retire Magazine
publisher, Karen Northridge.
Where to Retire
is published six times each year. This year’s July/August issue marks the ninth biennial honor roll of America’s best master-planning communities, compiled by the magazine. First launched in 1992, every issue of Where to Retire profiles top retirement towns—many well-known and others relatively undiscovered—and master-planned communities that cater to retirees and the active-adult community.
