(St. Helena Island, SC) – Dataw Island Club representatives are proud to announce that they will soon employ eight people with more than 25 years of work experience each. On May 7, irrigation technician Benjamin Simmons will celebrate his 25th anniversary with the company and is the longest tenured employee in the landscape maintenance department. Simmons joins seven other colleagues at Dataw Island Club whose collective experience totals more than 200 years of dedicated service.

“This is a testament to the people who serve Dataw Island every day,” said Ted Bartlett, general manager and chief operating officer of Dataw Island Club. “These people personify the ‘Dataw Experience’ and have a significant part in where we’ve been, where we are now, and where we are going as a unique and special community in the Lowcountry.”

Lori S. Murdaugh has been an employee at Dataw Island for more than 26 years and possesses the longest service record among the entire staff. She started working in the accounting office in 1983, and served as the controller for many years. Murdaugh was recently named assistant general manager and controller and also serves as the broker-in-charge for the Dataw Island Owners Association.

Solomon Holmes, Junior started working at Dataw Island Club in 1984 and assisted with the transformation of tomato and cattle fields into what is now the award-winning Cotton Dike and Morgan River golf courses. Holmes has been on the golf course grounds and equipment team his entire career.

Theodora “Teddy” Schultz currently serves as the architectural review board administrator at Dataw Island Club. She will celebrate her 26th anniversary in September, and during her career she spent four years as the secretary to The Marsh Association.

The director of catering, Ann Brown started her career on Dataw Island in 1984, and assisted with the hiring of the original clubhouse staff. Brown has also served as the director of human resources and membership, and also as the assistant secretary for the Dataw Island Club and the Dataw Island Owners Association.

The director of security, Emmett Decker, Junior started his career on Dataw Island in 1984. Beulah Jenkins and Eva Simmons were on the kitchen staff when the Dataw Island Club opened, and just celebrated their 25th anniversary with the company on the same day last January.
