City of Westlake, FL (September 9, 2020) – Minto Communities USA partnered with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Foundation to secure an important piece of equipment for deputies patrolling the growing City of Westlake.

Minto donated $15,000 to the foundation to purchase a Polaris Ranger UTV, an off-road vehicle, for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO).  Earlier this year, PBSO contracted with Westlake to provide police services. Minto is the largest landowner and is developing a 3,800-acre community by the same name.

“Since we are still a new city with a lot of construction and undeveloped land,  we thought deputies could benefit by having a vehicle that gives them easier access to places that regular patrol cars would have a hard time navigating,”  said John Carter, Minto Vice President.  “We are pleased to work with the sheriff’s foundation and applaud them for all of the work they do to support law enforcement.”

“Our nonprofit organization exists to help people in the community and to help fill the gaps for the sheriff’s office when there is something they need that is not budgeted for,” said Rick Seymour, chairman of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Foundation. “We rely on the generosity of private companies like Minto to help us achieve our mission.”

“We want to thank both Minto and the foundation for stepping up to make this donation,” said Lt. Craig Turner, a PBSO district commander.  “The new vehicle will make it possible to do our job more effectively and safely in the City of Westlake.”

Westlake is approved for 4,500 homes and more than 2 million square feet of commercial space.  Since opening for sales nearly three years ago, the award-winning developer has sold more than 750 homes, outpacing projections.

Most recently Minto opened its third neighborhood of single-family homes for sale, The Groves of Westlake.  More than 20 families camped out in early July to be among the first to choose their new homesite and sales have remained strong since.   Minto’s first neighborhood, The Meadows, is completely sold out and the second neighborhood, The Hammocks, is nearing sell out.  Home prices start in the low $300s to mid $500s.

PBSO not only patrols the City of Westlake, but many of its employees also live there.  Minto’s Welcome Heroes program offers a 3 percent discount off the base price of a new Minto home to law enforcement personnel, fire fighters/EMTs, medical professionals, teachers, military and other currently active civil servants.

In June 2019, Minto opened the first phase of its $15 million amenities center. The Westlake Adventure Park includes a resort-style lagoon pool with water slide, a kids’ interactive splash pad, and poolside concessions. An expansive recreational lawn features a covered concert pavilion and grassy area for events, along with shade pavilions, grills and picnic area, BMX pump park, playground, bocce ball courts and a dog park.  Phase 2 will include basketball courts and adult lap pool.

Non-residential development in Westlake is also taking shape.  At the beginning of the year, Palm Beach County opened a new state-of-the-art fire station and Christ Fellowship Church has plans to build an 800-seat worship center off of Seminole Pratt Whitney Road.  Construction has begun on the first of two new 7-11 gas station and convenience stores, and Florida Power & Light recently completed a 400-acre solar energy center within the Westlake city limits. Last year, Wellington Regional Medical Center opened a new stand-alone emergency department, and a few months later acquired the adjoining 35 acres for a future medical campus.

Westlake is located at 16610 Town Center Parkway North in the City of Westlake on Seminole Pratt Whitney Road between Southern Blvd. and Northlake Blvd.  For more information on the community, call 888-299-3628 or visit www.WestlakeFL.com.
