Bridgeville, Del. (August 1, 2013) – Where to Retire Magazine, awarded Heritage Shores “The Short List: 50 Best Master-Planned Communities in the United States.” This is the third year in a row that the Bridgeville active adult community has received this distinction.

Along with the award from Where to Retire, Heritage Shores has also received such recognition as Best Active Adult Community in the Country, by The National Council on Senior Housing, and is a repeat winner for America’s Best Designed Active Adult Community.

Where to Retire Magazine’s, “The Short List: 50 Best Master-Planned Communities in the United States” focuses on 50 communities across the US that they select as being the most “amenity-rich, with clubhouses, recreation and activities to keep residents fully engaged.” The selection of communities range in price and most are active-adult communities, requiring residents to meet a minimum age.

“Like the people who inhabit them, no two master-planned developments are exactly alike. Yet, the combination of amenities and social opportunities at each produces a common result: the interesting, active and fulfilling lifestyle retirees seek. Clubhouses, fitness centers, social clubs and educational classes mean residents get much more than a house at a planned community,” said Where to Retire Magazine publisher, Karen Northridge.

Where to Retire is published six times each year. This year’s July/August issue marks the ninth biennial honor roll of America’s best master-planning communities, compiled by the magazine. First launched in 1992, every issue of Where to Retire profiles top retirement towns—many well-known and others relatively undiscovered—and master-planned communities that cater to retirees and the active-adult community.
