Savannah, GA (May 28, 2013) - With homework a distant memory and the dog days of summer fast approaching, this is the proverbial tipping point of the summer where children typically become bored, but not at The Landings.

The community boasts an abundance of activities aimed at children each summer and throughout the year. So no matter a child’s interests, The Landings offers recreation they are sure to enjoy.

For sports-oriented children, the athletic field next to The Landings Association office offers a multitude of options. From soccer and lacrosse to baseball and football, this field is equipped for most any sport. The Village Library offers a wonderful summer Reading Program … this year’s program, “Flipping Over Books”, will enable the kids to read some great books, watch some magic, play with deep sea creatures, and listen to a story as the author, Phyllis Tildes, illustrates it.

In addition, this summer The Landings Club will be offering an array of exciting activities including Swimming, Arts & Crafts, Martial Arts, Group Tennis Instruction, Group Golf Instruction, Fun with Foods, Team Building, Super Science Projects, Wacky Wednesdays, Camp Traditions, and more. Campers will make great friends, have tons of fun and enjoy going to camp in a unique and beautiful setting. The Landings Club Day Camp prides itself on having an all-adult staff who are incredibly spirited, responsible and creative.

For a more relaxing time, the Kid’s Fishing Lagoon, located behind the fire station in Oakridge, is always a family favorite. Filled with blue-gill for easy angling, this lagoon provides Landings children with a place to call their own. Continually boasting hundreds of participants, the annual Kid’s Fishing Derby, which is held every Memorial Day weekend, is a highly anticipated event. This year marked its 18th year, and broke two records – 123 children attended and caught 615 Bluegills in 1 ½ hours. Even an Osprey, who swooped into the center of the lagoon, caught a fish – much to the delight of the young fishermen!

Once summer is over, The Landings Club continues to offer exciting activities throughout the year. Some of the activities include: story time, book club, parent’s night out, karate, gymnastics, holiday parties and family fun Sundays.

But let’s not forget the other child-friendly amenities such as the water park style waterslide at Franklin Creek, The Landings Association’s dog park, two playgrounds, 40 miles of walking and biking trails and so much more. With no transient traffic and full-time, in-house security staff, safety is always a priority at The Landings.

From camps and fishing lagoons to biking and organized activities, fostering family fun and youthful spirit is an innate value of this gated island community.
