Savannah, GA (May 7, 2013) - Each year since 2007 The Landings community has hosted a golf event to show its appreciation for our coastal Georgia soldiers. It has become a time for our community to host today’s warriors at Hunter Army air Force Base and Ft. Stewart and a time for the past to meet the present. A time to share a love of country, respect for service, and pride in community.

Each year this event has grown in popularity and 2013’s March 25th date, although cool and windy, did not deter the field. The color guard started the tournament off on a solemn and patriotic note. The four man winning team included a D-Day veteran and the current commander of one of our Special Operations helicopter companies. In attendance was also a retired Army nurse, who cared for Vietnam burn casualties and pioneered treatment of AIDS in the Army.

Together the past and the present worked to raise $23,000 to help the 2013 Landings Military Family Relief Fund Campaign. A Wall of Honor is on display at The Landings Marshwood Club for all to enjoy.
