Heber City, UT (July 26, 2012)— The Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course at Red Ledges has been named the Best Golf Course in Utah for a third consecutive year by the Best of State Awards. The 7,653-yard signature course features 18 holes, each designed to accentuate the view of the Rocky Mountains and the dramatic red rock formations of the existing landscape.

“I have a personal connection with all my golf courses, but in the case of Red Ledges, I have a long-standing relationship with the owner and developer, Tony Burns, and his family,” said Jack Nicklaus. “Because of that, as well as the special opportunity we were given with this unique site that is now Red Ledges, it is especially rewarding to see the recognition they have received in a relatively short period of time. I believe the success is a result of everyone’s collective vision, the commitment from the owners, and the continued dedication of the entire staff.”

The Best of State Awards recognize excellence throughout the state of Utah. Red Ledges was awarded the Best of State title based on the outstanding course design by Jack Nicklaus, which was focused on integrating a mountain golf course with natural red sandstone landscaping. Other judging criteria included innovative approaches and methods as well as a significant contribution to a better quality of life in Utah.

“It is truly an honor to receive this recognition for the third year from Utah’s top recognition and awards program,” said Mitchel Burns, Red Ledges COO. “Jack Nicklaus was very particular in the experience he wanted to create for Red Ledges’ members. His vision, in combination with the singular beauty of the Red Ledges topography, and the personal instruction and technology offered through our Jim McLean Golf School, creates that unmatched experience for members and home owners in our community.”

Since opening in 2009, our golf experience has garnered numerous accolades including Golf Magazine’s Best New Private Golf Course that same year. “We are so pleased with the continued success and recognition of golf at Red Ledges,” Burns continued. “For the past three years Red Ledges was selected to host the Steve Young Mountain Classic. And recently Red Ledges was named the home of the Red Ledges Million Dollar Challenge on CBS,” he elaborated. “Red Ledges will be one of four premier golf courses around the world to host CBS’ nationally-televised championships in 2013. It’s something like ‘American Idol’ for the golf world – each event is open to 144 golfers regardless of age or gender, and at the end of the tournament, the top 10 players compete for a $1 million purse in a nine-hole shootout. What a great innovation for golf!”
