We moved here in 1997, attracted by the lake & community activities & amenities in this gorgeous TN Valley environment, as well as nearby scenic mountains & touristy playlands of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville. Tellico Vilage is just off I-75 / I-40, convenient to Knoxville, Maryville, Chattanooga, Atlanta, Nashville...up I-75 all the way to Michigan , or down to Florida. The Valley location modifies stormy weather that often comes from the n/w off the Cumberland Plateau and 'jumps' over us. I always say that 30 minutes in any direction from my house has different weather, so we have a lovely micro-climate. Mild 4 seasons normally. Seasonal snows in winter are very light and often very few..nothing lingers longer than a day or two, if at all. Our roads are treated and if needed, plowed quickly (but that is rare) and drivable. Though we feel rural, we have our own super market & other services, plus Lenoir City is within 10 min drive...many services & growing there. We first bought a home in 1997, then a piece of property across from the lake & backed up to one of the 3 golf course greens..moved into the new home we built in 2002.VERY happy with the house we built and the builder we chose. Yes, many semi-retired or fully retired people live here, but we also have a mix of age groups due to close proximity to Knoxville. Lots of self-directed groups, clubs, exercise facilities, 2 pools, 3 golf courses in TV, marinas, plenty of restaurants from 5 minutes to 30 minutes distance. What's not to like!
