Chapel Hill, NC (June 29, 2016) - Over 25 years ago, Jack Nicklaus played the first ever round of golf on a brand 27-hole new course south of Chapel Hill, NC. Personally designed by the ‘Golden Bear’ himself, Governors Club’s Jack Nicklaus Signature Signature Golf Course has become known for the high quality of play and idyllic setting. Nicklaus himself calls it, “One of the nicest pieces of property I have ever designed.”

The centerpiece of the Governors Club, this 27-hole championship course follows the natural contours of the 1,600 acre community. Three distinct 9-hole courses traverse the terrain of Edwards Mountain, winding through forests, meandering through the Governors Club neighborhoods while creating spectacular course views for many homes. Listed as a Distinguished Emerald Club of the World, an award given by BoardRoom magazine, Governors Club is in the top 5 percent of golf clubs in the world.

Designated as a U.S. Open Regional Qualifying Site, the course has hosted the U.S. Women's Open Sectional Qualifier in 2015 and the 2008 and 2014 U.S. Open Qualifiers. Recently, the championship course also hosted the 2016 Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) North Carolina Men's Amateur Championship, the 5th CGA tournament in Governors Club course history. Golf Digest has also previously ranked Governors Club as one of the top 15 courses in North Carolina.

However, far from the course only being for high level golfers, players of all skill levels can hone their game. With five on-site PGA Golf Professionals, five golf schools, TPI Certified Golf Fitness Professionals and over 50 group clinics, instructional opportunities abound. Plus, year-round practice facilities allow golfers to keep their skills sharp on practice tees, putting greens, practice bunkers and more.
