The Landings community supports an extraordinary number of charities and groups, and with that in mind, the volunteer display will be changed throughout the year in order to showcase as many organizations as possible.
Mike Steele, Community Manager, American Cancer Society had this to say: “Without the help of the people at The Landings who care so much about defeating cancer, we could never provide the same level of service to our local cancer patients.” He goes on to say, “Thanks to the commitment of The Landings community, cancer patients in Chatham County have it a little easier as they undergo their treatments for cancer.”
Currently spotlighted are the following ten organizations:
Habitat for Humanity Savannah, American Cancer Society “Parties with a Purpose”, Spanish Oaks Hospice, Horizons Savannah, The Rhodes 19 Sailing Club (in support of the Leukemia Cup Regatta, Kiwanis Club of Skidaway, Community Health Mission, The Landings Military Family Relief Fund, the LWGA Golfing for a Cure in support of the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute and the Skidaway Island Rotary Club.
Each of the showcased institutions cite the continued support of The Landings residents as one of the reasons they are able to succeed – an exciting complement to the community’s other awards. According to Virginia Brown, Executive Director, Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity, “The Landings volunteers are the core of our volunteer program at Habitat Savannah. Not only do Landings volunteers build our Habitat homes, they raise needed community support and operate the Habitat ReStore”. And Major General Robert Abrams, Commanding General, 3rd Infantry Division stated that, “The (Landings Military Family Relief ) fund provides invaluable assistance to our military family and in no small measure contributes greatly to our ability to wage this global war on terrorism”.
