One of the most picturesque areas of Cypress Landing is the Marina, a 222-slip haven for resident and nonresident boat owners, nestled on Chocowinity Bay within a couple of hundred feet of the Bay Club and the Marina Lounge. The Marina is a showcase to be sure.
Last spring, under the direction of the Marina Board, the Marina underwent a light makeover that makes the setting even more pleasant. The Board authorized a power washing of the docks. The cleaning, done by the Crystal Clear company, revealed a beautiful finish of exotic and durable Brazilian Ipé wood that, heretofore, had been covered under years of lichen and the like. The power washing of the floating docks covered 45,000 square feet. The project was overseen by former Marina Manager Bruce J. and new Marina Manager, Leo Z.
Where the first point of contact with potential new residents and slip owners often occurs, these folks will now see a beautiful new 8-foot by 4-foot meeting table surrounded by comfortable new chairs. The table, which is shaped like the deck of a ship, was handcrafted by Cypress Landing’s own Bill P., who volunteered for the project. Bill spent 100 hours layering in lovely Sapele African mahogany woods strips on the surface along with maple. The result was worthy of the Queen Mary 2. The Marina Board paid for the materials for Bill, and the final cost was thousands less than purchasing a table of this quality at retail.
