Lakewood Ranch, FL (July 19, 2016) - Following its trend of being ranked as one of the best-selling master-planned communities for five years in a row, Lakewood Ranch has posted strong sales numbers and a jump to fifth place in the nation for mid-year 2016, according to Maryland-based real estate consulting firm RCLCO.
Lakewood Ranch bettered its 2015 mid-year position of No. 12, and outpaced many other recognizable and well-known communities in Arizona, California, Nevada, Texas, South Carolina, and even Florida.
Lakewood Ranch boasted 360 new home sales, versus last year’s figure of 264; an increase of 36 percent. Only two other communities in the top 20 demonstrated a larger percentage of growth.
“There has been a lot of exciting development and growth in the Florida market throughout 2016 so far,” RCLCO officials said. “With home prices in the Northeast and Midwest rising, empty nesters are continuing to cash in their home equity and downsize to Florida, which remains the top destination for retiree migration.”
Lakewood Ranch, however, owes its success not just to retirees, but to a wide-ranging market across the board. The uptick in Lakewood Ranch’s sales was due to strong numbers in the existing villages of Bridgewater, Esplanade, Country Club East, and The Lake Club, as well as the newer offerings of Indigo, Harmony, Meritage and Del Webb.
Product diversification is a critical success factor driving sales, said Laura Cole, vice president of marketing for Lakewood Ranch. The community has benefitted from the addition of new builders who offer a wider array of home products and sizes. Prices now range from the high $100,000s to more than $5 million.
Expansion of amenity offerings at Lakewood Ranch, including renovations to the existing athletic center and clubhouse, and a new amenity center and clubhouse at Country Club East, were also instrumental in drawing attention to the community, as were the renovations to the information center at University Parkway and the opening of the new information center at Rangeland.
RCLCO has been ranking master-planned communities since 1994.
Lakewood Ranch is the 31,000-acre award-winning master-planned community in Sarasota and Manatee counties on the West Coast of Florida. Just minutes from the Gulf Coast beaches and cultural assets in Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch is already home to more than 25,000 residents and features A-rated schools, a hospital, the Sarasota Polo Club, the 75-acre Premier Sports Campus, the Ancient Oak Gun Club, its own Main Street with theaters, shopping and dining, and four million square feet of commercial property.
