FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 15, 2016) – WCI Communities has completed construction on a 5,000-square-foot expansion of social and recreational facilities at the Plaza del Sol Town Center at Pelican Preserve in Fort Myers.
General Manager Joe Smith said, “With this expansion, we’ve gone above and beyond to provide a resort-style club experience for our Pelican Preserve residents.”
The expansion dedicates 3,000 square feet to two exercise rooms – nearly tripling the center’s current space – while existing exercise space was renovated into a more open floor plan. Additional cardio and strength-training equipment was added to Pelican Preserve’s Soleil Health & Fitness Center, where residents enjoy Cybex’s new line of Prestige Strength equipment.
The new 65,000-gallon outdoor lap pool is complemented by “Flip Flops,” the community’s casual resort-style poolside bar that features daily specials and unique menu items.
Additional renovation enhancements include a new golf cart parking lot and new landscaping.
The expansion project follows the remodeling of the 55 and better active adult community’s casually elegant Destinations restaurant and the expansion of the card room. The 70,000-square foot, multi-building Plaza del Sol complex offers Pelican Preserve residents indoor swimming and fitness, arts and crafts studios, and a 100-seat theater.
Tennis and pickleball are also popular with Pelican Preserve residents.
Pelican Preserve’s Chateau Homes, Villas, Carriage Homes, Grand Villas and Classic Homes start from the low $200,000s and feature two and three bedrooms, plan-specific bonus and flex rooms to suit every taste and lifestyle. Several Dream Ready homes are available for immediate or near-immediate move in.
Pelican Preserve is one of the first residential communities in the nation awarded the Gold Seal of Sustainability from Audubon International’s Sustainable Development program. In addition to sidewalks and walking trails, the community includes 38 pristine acres set aside for an observation boardwalk and nature preserve.
Pelican Preserve is located minutes from I-75 just south of Colonial Boulevard on Treeline Avenue. The welcome center and models are open daily.
