New Restaurant at The National Golf Village Honored With Golden Fork Award

GREENSBORO, Ga. (February 9, 2016) – The National Tavern at The National Golf Village, the newest restaurant at Reynolds Lake Oconee, has been honored in the worldwide “Golden Fork Awards” announced in the current issue of Golf Inc. Magazine.

The National Tavern won second place for Best New Public facilities, one of only 12 facilities from throughout the world to earn honors for first place, second place and honorable mention.

“This award is an acknowledgement of the hard work that a lot of talented people have contributed to The National Tavern,” said Rabun Neal, president Reynolds Lake Oconee. “It also shows the dedication of Reynolds Lake Oconee to its members and community to provide a premier luxury golf lifestyle. Continued additions and improvements to our facilities will always be a part of that commitment.”

Editors of Golf Inc. judged more than 50 entries from golf clubs and courses worldwide based on a number of factors, including improvements in revenue, traffic, guest satisfaction, aesthetics, service, menus and capital investment. To see the complete list of winners visit www.GolfIncMagazine.com

A casual restaurant and lounge at the heart of the club, The National Tavern is the resort’s sixth clubhouse. Exemplifying Southern charm and functional for golfers, the new facility is located on a commanding hillside overlooking the finishing hole of the Tom Fazio designed National golf course.

Voters for the Golden Fork Awards noted that the $4.5 million project is a “perfect gathering place,” with the “large wrap-around porch” serving as a standout exterior feature.

Led by Executive Chef Derin Moore, The Tavern is the centerpiece of The National Golf Village. The craftsman-style farmhouse design, complete with a large stacked stone fireplace, creates a welcoming environment for residents and guests. The outdoor fire pit area, practice putting green and golf course views, The Tavern’s casual open-air dining options will encourage guests to linger longer after either dinner or a round of golf.
