BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (May 28, 2015) – Altaira, WCI Communities’ new luxury tower in The Colony Golf & Bay Club, will feature shades of sand and surf and a soft contemporary-coastal ambiance throughout its lobby and gathering areas.

WCI has selected Bonnie Manson, principal of Nashville-based Interior Design Associates, to create the interiors for Altaira’s lobby, second-floor amenities, guest rooms and outdoor pool area. Manson has partnered with WCI since 1996, designing public spaces in 21 of the builder/developer’s high-rise buildings.

During her nearly 20 years working in Southwest Florida, the interior designer has seen design shift from Old World Mediterranean to sleek contemporary styling. In the 21-story Altaira, WCI’s first Sky HomesSM project in eight years, Manson will meld a coastal chic aesthetic conveyed through color and furnishings with “soft contemporary” styling.

“Altaira’s entrance sets a tone of light and airy elegance, with sweeping views from the lobby all the way through to the pool, pavilion and reflecting pool,” Manson said. “Our design emphasizes that experience.”

The palette of sand, taupe, soft blues and aquamarine accented with smoky amethyst – “like the underside of a shell” – will be introduced in the lobby and continue in the club room, game room, fitness center and three guest rooms.

“Bonnie has found just the right balance for Altaira,” said Dwight Thomas, vice president of WCI’s Tower division. “Her design is refreshing and contemporary, cool and comfortable, and designed for stylish relaxation. It invites and encourages residents and their guests to enjoy these spaces.”

Manson said the design also will balance elegance and comfort, adaptable to an upscale cocktail party yet relaxed so residents don’t feel the need to dress up to retrieve their mail. “Comfort is really the direction of coastal contemporary interior design,” she said.

Altaira’s amenities floor includes the 2,300-square-foot club room offering a catering kitchen, bar, fireplace and multiple flat-screen TVs; a game room with poker and card tables; and a large fitness center with a separate room for experiences such as yoga and Pilates. The tower also offers three well-appointed suites with two queen beds and dual-sink vanities for visiting guests.

“The design provides flexibility in the main gathering areas,” Manson said. Tables in the game room can be pushed together for a small dinner party, and the club room accommodates large parties and casual gatherings.

Designer features will include large-format Italian porcelain in the lobby, custom-designed ripple-effect carpeting in the clubroom, and a cappuccino onyx countertop on the semi-circular club room bar.

“The porcelain almost looks like onyx,” Manson said. “And it’s made from 40 percent recycled product.”

In the club room, two large sectional sofas will anchor the center of the room, the bar will have bar-height tables and stools, and four smaller conversation areas will be positioned near the fireplace.

Outdoor amenities include a resort-style pool, pavilion with bar, cabanas, a reflecting pool, water wall and open fire pit. Manson will introduce contemporary-styled chaises, sectional sofas and bar-height tables and chairs at the pavilion bar.

“There’s an emphasis on health at Altaira,” Manson said. “The building has a great fitness center and a separate workout room, and the pool is designed for both leisure and swimming laps.”

Altaira offers 76 Sky Homes, each with three bedrooms and 3,300 or 3,500 square feet of living space. Open home designs and multiple terraces showcase views of The Colony’s lakes, nature preserves and golf course – as well as vistas of Estero Bay. The tower features 19 residential floors, each with only four residences per floor.

Altaira’s residences offer an open great room, generous-sized kitchen, private den, three full baths, a powder room and east- and west-facing terraces. Corner units offer additional north- or south-facing terraces.

Altaira’s first floor provides resident garage parking – including private garages for penthouse owners – air-conditioned owner’s storage, bicycle storage and a power source for electric-powered vehicles.

In addition to Altaira’s amenity level, the tower also offers a rooftop “sky” terrace with expansive views of Estero Bay, the Gulf of Mexico and nightly sunsets.

Residents of Altaira also will enjoy the lifestyle and amenities of the 809-acre Colony Golf & Bay Club, featuring the award-winning Bay Club, a private dining club specializing in epicurean delights and dramatic sunset views along Estero Bay, and a newly expanded kayak and canoe launch facility.

Members of the 28,000-square-foot Colony Country and Sports clubs can indulge in spa treatments, work out in the fitness center, or challenge themselves on the Jerry Pate-designed championship golf course. The clubhouse offers casual and formal dining, a cocktail lounge, outdoor terrace, pro shop, and men’s and ladies’ lounges with full locker facilities. The Sports club’s outdoor amenities include a 65-foot swimming pool, jetted spa and a tennis pavilion with six Har-Tru courts.

As part of Pelican Landing, Colony residents have access to a canoe park, fitness and community centers, additional tennis courts and onsite concierge services. A private boat shuttles residents to the 34-acre Beach Park on the northern tip of Big Hickory Island seven days a week.

WCI is now accepting reservations for Altaira Sky Homes and expects to begin construction in August 2015, with completion scheduled during the second quarter of 2017.
