BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (May 15, 2015) – The new Altaira luxury tower in The Colony Golf & Bay Club marks the next chapter in WCI Communities’ long history of residential high-rise success throughout Southwest Florida.
The 21-story tower – WCI’s first Sky HomesSM project in eight years – represents the next generation of tower living. With sweeping views throughout each of its 76 residences, Altaira offers a comprehensive amenities floor and a rooftop terrace providing residents and their guests with sunset vistas of the Gulf of Mexico, Estero Bay lakes and nature preserves throughout the 809-acre community.
The Colony is located within the community of Pelican Landing in Bonita Springs, a city resonating with new homebuyers due to its convenience and proximity to both Naples and Fort Myers.
“During the past decade the Bonita-Estero area has become a hot spot in Southwest Florida with two new regional shopping centers at Coconut Point Mall and Gulf Coast Town Center and the corporate headquarters for Hertz, which is expected to open at the end of this year,” said Dwight Thomas, vice president of WCI’s Tower division. “Its close location to the Gulf of Mexico beaches and the arts and cultural venues of Naples and Fort Myers is especially attractive to new homebuyers.”
The WCI Tower Division has built numerous luxury towers from Marco Island to Tampa. In creating Altaira, the Bonita Springs-based company once again partnered with award-winning Bob Hall of Curts Gaines Hall Jones as the lead architect. Hall has designed 14 towers for WCI, including the ultra-luxury Seasons in Naples and Veracruz on Marco Island.
WCI re-introduced sales in The Colony in 2012 with new penthouse-inspired three- and five-story mid-rise condominium homes in the Terzetto and Cielo neighborhoods. “The homes appealed to buyers looking for both a luxury, low-maintenance lifestyle as well as more time to enjoy the community’s resort-style amenities,” Thomas said.
Altaira caters to the pent-up demand for luxury tower living in Southwest Florida. Altaira’s three-bedroom Sky Homes offer 3,300 and 3,500 square feet of living space and are designed for expansive views with open floor plans and multiple terraces. The tower features 19 residential floors, each with only four residences per floor.
Two home designs offer an open great room convenient to a generous-sized kitchen and entertainment space, private den, three full baths, a powder room, three bedrooms, an east-facing terrace and a west-facing sunset terrace.
Sky Homes have been designed with modern luxuries, including granite or quartz kitchens countertops, imported porcelain flooring in main living areas, and marble or quartz vanity tops in all bathrooms.
Kitchens also offer stainless steel appliances, traditional and European-style cabinetry with under-counter lighting and freestanding kitchen islands.
Owner’s suites feature bedrooms poised to western views and sliding doors to terraces. The suites also offer his-and-her walk-in closets and bathrooms featuring tile-clad walk-in showers, ceramic-tiled soaking tubs and private water closets. Double vanities offer a dressing table for her, marble or quartz countertops and matching cabinet linen tower.
All guest rooms have private full baths and access to terraces.
Some Altaira Sky Homes offer owner storage rooms and all have laundry rooms with large-capacity washer and dryer and a built-in utility sink. Each home has a private elevator foyer and solar-tinted, laminated glass windows with hurricane-rated glazing systems.
Altaira’s first floor provides resident garage parking, air-conditioned owner’s storage, bicycle storage and a power source for electric-powered vehicles. The entire second floor of Altaira is designated as the owner’s amenity level and features three hotel-style guest suites, manned access control and concierge desk, resident club room and bar with an adjacent catering kitchen, as well as a fully-equipped fitness room.
The outdoor amenity deck will include a resort-style pool, pool pavilion, cabanas, a reflecting pool, water wall and open fire pit.
Beyond Altaira, amenities available at The Colony Golf & Bay Club complement the Sky Homes lifestyle and rival those of a luxury resort: 18 holes of Jerry Pate-designed championship golf, private dining, Har-Tru tennis courts, fitness center with aerobics, spa services and an outdoor swimming pool.
Nature abounds throughout The Colony and Pelican Landing, with kayaking and canoeing along adjoining waterways, recreational parks, miles of walking, jogging and biking trails and access to the area’s famed Gulf beaches.
A private boat ferries Colony residents to the 34-acre Beach Park on the northern tip of Big Hickory Island seven days a week. The park provides chaises and umbrellas, a bayfront canoe and kayak park to explore nearby Lovers Key State Park.
Nature can also be enjoyed nightly with sunsets from the second- and third-floor dining rooms and lounges at The Bay Club, The Colony’s private dining club nestled along Estero Bay.
As part of Pelican Landing, Colony residents have full access to a paddling park, fitness and community centers, additional tennis courts and onsite concierge services that can arrange everything from key-holding and housekeeping services to dry cleaning, domestic and international travel, and at-home massages or yoga instruction.
WCI is now accepting reservations and expects to begin construction in August 2015, with completion scheduled during the second quarter of 2017.
Sky Homes in Altaira start from $1 million.
