Bella Vista, AR (June 11, 2014) - The consumer advocacy site analyzed data relating to affordability, population growth and homeownership rates, and Bella Vista topped the list with a homeownership rate of 89 percent.

Arkansas is experiencing growth in population and jobs, which is reflected in the local housing market. Bella Vista’s population increased 6.7 percent from 2010 to 2012. Additionally, personal income is increasing and unemployment is decreasing, according to the site.

NerdWallet analyzed data for all 62 Arkansas communities with more than 5,000 residents to find the best communities for homeownership in the state. The best communities had the following things in common:

• Home values were less than $200,000 in all but two places, making Arkansas an affordable place to live.

• Homeowners in half of the places spent less than 25 percent of their income on monthly homeowner costs, which include mortgage and utility bills.

• Eighteen of the 20 cities gained population between 2010 and 2012.

The analysis of best places for homeownership in the state answers three main questions:

• Are homes available?

• Can you afford to live there?

• Is the area growing?

Other communities making the Top 10 for homeownership include: Centerton, Hot Springs Village, Bryant, Greenwood, Cabot, Maumelle, Marion, White Hall and Benton.
