Sarasota, FL (Jan. 23, 2014) – Kay Green Design will introduce coastal colors and a transitional design throughout the Azalea, a Grand Villa model home currently under construction at Sarasota National. Offering 1,862 square feet, the Azalea is one of six model homes currently under construction at Sarasota National, WCI’s newest community.

The three-bedroom, two-bath Azalea will feature a mixed-media furniture format: dark and light wood tones, iron and glass, painted pieces and antiques. The sea and the coast will be referenced in coral-themed fabrics, artwork and lamps and a main palette of sand-toned creams and macadamia, soft robin’s egg blue and citrus green with pops of apricot.

In creating the interior design for the Azalea, the design team envisioned a couple who love to entertain – a scenario that works well with the floor plan’s open great room, extra workspace provided by an oversized kitchen island and a flex room that will be shown in the model as a dining room.

Crown molding and wide tongue-and-groove planking will accent tray ceilings in several rooms. In the dining room, picture-frame molding overlays will form a diamond above a dark espresso table anchored at each end by upholstered host armchairs with nail head trim. The room’s buffet will add a flourish with its mirrored doors and oversized fleur-de-lis overlays.

Chevron, paisley and willowy floral prints in accent pillows and accessories will introduce apricot to the neutral blue and blue-gray undertones of the great room’s upholstered bun-legged sofa and chairs. Tables and the TV console will provide grounding dark wood tones, a mix of rubbed metal and glass plus solid wood.
Above, the ceiling will repeat the dining room’s design of larger-in-scale with a double harlequin overlay, while stripes in the draperies will pick up the room’s tones of soft gray, blue and cream.

The island will create visual definition from the great room; upholstered barstools with pleated tufts will provide seating for guests to interact with the host and hostess.

The owner’s retreat offers a bedroom, walk-in closet and bathroom featuring his-and-her vanities, separate tub, shower and water closet. Kay Green will accent darker citrus greens in bedding and upholstery with apricot.

Both the ceiling and bed wall will feature custom millwork. The ceiling’s box-beam design will be accented with moldings and surfaced painted cream; the bed wall will have a wheat grass green surface flanked by mirrors with crisscrossing molding overlays. Furnishings will include dark wood tones and weathered ivory.

Designed for visitors, the model’s second bedroom will feature soft blue upholstery and window treatments with chevron, branch patterns and accents of white and blue-gray. The bed wall will be finished with wide plank tongue-and-groove millwork painted blue-gray with macadamia paint on each side. A mix of nightstands and an ivory dresser with a slight antique finish will give the room an eclectic feel.

The model’s third bedroom will cater to granddaughters. With its horizontal stripes of peach and salmon, fabrics featuring coral and sea creatures, and a combination of gingham and plaid pillows that pick up the citrus green and blue tones, the bedroom is accented by a dresser randomly studded with nail head to add a touch of whimsy.

The Azalea floor plan has 2,556 total square feet, including an attached two-car garage, covered entry and lanai. It is base priced from $259,990.

The Azalea model is expected to open for viewing in February 2014.
