Skidaway Island, Savannah, Ga.(December 12, 2012) — For the tenth consecutive year, The Landings Company REALTORS®, on behalf of The Landings on Skidaway Island, have sponsored a very special holiday program for Savannah area children – the Adopt An Angel program. This year’s effort was conducted in cooperation with Union Mission’s Department of Children’s Services, the Wesley Community Center, and the Greenbriar Children’s Center.

On November 16th, a special Christmas tree in the lobby of The Landings Company Welcome Center was put up and hung with hundreds of angels, representing the Christmas wishes of children in the Savannah area. Weeks before the tree was installed, residents began calling about the program. Folks stopped by even before angels could be hung on November 16th, and they continued coming in a steady flow until every last angel on the tree was selected.

On November 17th, the day after the tree went up, presents began appearing under the tree. Husbands and wives came in, families with children, even visitors -- each selecting an Angel that they could shop for. Hundreds of presents flooded the office, as Landings residents extended their hearts and their resources to less fortunate children. Bikes of all sizes came rolling in (literally), dolls were everywhere, toys, scooters, and clothing piled up. By the first week in December so many packages were delivered that it was difficult to get around the office.

Each year the program grows, with more Angels and more gifts. “There has been so much excitement and such an outpouring of love - and it’s been our pleasure at The Landings Company to coordinate this program on behalf of our community” , said Carolyn McInerney, Peggy Utley and Eileen Galves, coordinators of this year’s program. On December 12th, a caravan of Landings Company agents and Byrd Heating & Air volunteers loaded the generously donated Byrd trucks and delivered the gifts to the three organizations to the delight of the coordinators.
