(Nov. 21, 2012) - The editors of Ideal Living magazine recently awarded a custom built Landings home the honor of being their “2012 Ideal Living Home”. It was featured in an extensive article in this year’s fall national publication, and in conjunction with this honor, the homeowners agreed to hold it open as a fundraiser for the Savannah Philharmonic.
The official start of the event on November 11th was noon, but by 11:45am folks were already lined up to tour the home. Volunteers from the Philharmonic staffed the Welcome Table and Landings residents worked as hosts and hostesses throughout the day to greet visitors and share specifics of each room in the home. A number of vendors who worked on the design, landscaping, flooring, custom furnishings, draperies, and more were on-site to answer questions.
Over the next five hours, 250 people removed their shoes, donned their booties, and came through the doors to tour the Ideal Living home in the Moon River section of The Landings.
To add to the ambiance, two Philharmonic musicians were on hand to provide background music and artwork by June Stratton was on display with one piece being raffled off to support the Philharmonic. Artistic Director and Conductor, Peter Shannon, also stopped by and spent some time conversing with visitors.
All in all, $3,000 was raised in support of the Savannah Philharmonic, a 501(c) 3 non profit, which presents a full range of concerts each season, from classics to pops. Their aim is to exhilarate, educate, and enrich a large and diverse audience in the greater Savannah community.
