Savannah, GA (March 27, 2012)The Landings Club and the 2012 Savannah Challenger Tournament Committee are thrilled to announce that one of Savannah’s most talented female vocalists, Huxsie Scott, will sing the National Anthem before the final-round match of the 2012 Savannah Challenger.

Considered to be one of the greatest jazz/blues artists ever to live and perform in the Savannah coastal area, Scott is scheduled to take center court on Sunday, April 29 at 1 p.m. followed by a presentation of our nation’s flag from the Color Guard of the U.S. Army.

“I have admired Scott for years,” said Kirsten McDonough, tournament chairperson, “and with her forthcoming album I thought this would be a good opportunity to promote her amazing voice and close out the tournament on a high note. We are extremely honored to have her sing for us.”

Scott’s newest project, a self-titled album featuring Broadway classics and jazz and pop hits from the 1920s through the 1960s, was released in February to the delight of her fans. Among her many musical achievements, Scott sang the title song for the 1996 Olympic Yachting event with composer, Jeffrey Reid. In 2004, she was inducted into the Savannah Tribune Gospel Hall Of Fame, the Coastal Jazz Hall of Fame and voted Best Female Contemporary Gospel Artist by listeners of WSOK/Clear Channel Radio.
