Savannah, GA (Dec. 19, 2011) - 2011 was the ninth consecutive year The Landings Company organized the Adopt an Angel Program on behalf of The Landings community. The program assists local charities in their efforts to make Christmas memorable and joyful for families in the Savannah area. This year The Landings adopted angels from Wesley Community Center, Union Mission and Safe Shelter.

In November, two Christmas trees at The Landings Company’s Real Estate Discovery Center were decorated with 150 angels. Soon after the first few angels were “adopted,” the gifts started pouring in--among them were microwave ovens, pot and pans and household items for the moms, iPods, books, clothing and sports items for the teenagers and everything from Pooh Bear & Tigger to educational toys for the youngest angels! And there were bicycles, so many that it looked like a retail store at The Company’s Sales Office.

Safe Shelter drove their van out to The Landings to pick up their gifts. When Natalie Leggett arrived, Landings Company agents were skeptical that she could get the donations in her van. She gleefully told them that they said the same thing last year and she was going to prove them wrong again. She carefully packed every nook and cranny of her vehicle… and she did do it again! Natalie gave a “thumbs up” and drove off to make some Christmas wishes come true for her Safe Shelter families.

On the delivery day, Landings Company agents donned Santa hats, loaded vans and trucks and delivered the bundles and bags of gifts to Union Mission and Wesley Community Center. Volunteers who helped unload all the goodies were grinning from ear to ear. As he was carrying in bikes and bags of gifts, one of the young men said over and over again,” “You are going to make so many children happy this Christmas – God Bless You!”

The President and CEO of Union Mission, Dr. Frances Carter, said, “We appreciate The Landings Company and the community support for our Angel Tree Project. The Landings’ donations truly help brighten the holidays for the homeless families we serve.”
Upon the arrival of the truckload of gifts, Tammy Mixon, executive director of Wesley Community Centers, said, “Together we make a difference. These holiday gifts enable Wesley to provide some much needed cheer to homeless and low-income women, children and families.”
