Savannah, GA (Nov. 28, 2011) - On Friday, November 18, seven-time senior national champion and Landings resident Danny Galves organized an evening exhibition to reacquaint seasoned players and introduce newcomers to the sport of Platform Tennis at The Landings on Savannah’s Skidaway Island.

More than 40 spectators and players came out to see the new tennis pros (Scott Mitchell, David Wolf, and Frank Vermeer) compete against avid northeast players who have relocated to The Landings.

The Landings Club has two platform courts and a number of notable players. These players include Galves, two-time national champion Meri Lobel Campbell, former APTA President Brian Zevnik, and current APTA board member and two-time junior national champion Tina Kelly.

During the exhibition, the tennis pros adapted quickly to the fast-paced game. Once they got used to the shorter racquets, they soon figured out how to play off the screens. The northeasterners were impressed with the agility of the three newcomers - especially Wolf who is a younger brother of three-time women's national champion Linda Wolf.

Platform tennis is only one of the many activities residents can enjoy year-round at The Landings. The Club is also introducing Pickleball which is played with a wiffle ball and wood paddles on a court that is smaller than a tennis court. With six championship golf courses, elegant clubhouses, 34 tennis courts, miles of walking and biking trails, over 80 social clubs, deep water marinas and a variety of other coastal amenities, its no wonder The Landings offers its residents a lifestyle unmatched by any other community.
