Waterfall at Lake Burton

Originally from Texas, my wife and I were looking for the ideal location to retire. This is never an easy choice for most retires as there are so many issues to consider. As the parents of five children and four grandchild, we knew we could not live close to all of them, so we needed a place they would want to visit. To state it simply, our children and grandchildren love to visit Waterfall. Our view of Lake Burton, Waterfall golf course and the Blue Ridge Mountains are just stunning. A full four seasons is a new experience for us to enjoy. Summers with moderate temperatures finds us outdoors exploring the many beauties that are accessible here and around Lake Burton. If you like to play golf, fish, drive beautiful roads, visit quaint towns or just throw yourself in the lake, Waterfall might just be for you.

In what is "seemingly" a remote North Georgia location lies an absolutely breathtaking area called Waterfall at Lake Burton. In point of fact, however, we are located less than two hours north of Atlanta, just far enough away to feel peaceful and secluded!! Purchased as a second home ten years ago we fell in love with this stunning community! Bordered by mountains, lakes, forests and waterfalls this home quickly became our go to hideaway. We, in fact, made it our permanent home in 2015 and have not looked back! The people, the Club, the amenities are all the best of the best and we encourage all of our friends and family to visit or perhaps even consider purchasing! Waterfall at Lake Burton is truly a hidden gem!

We discovered Waterfall at Lake Burton over ten years ago. There was no hesitation on our part when we found the perfect house to be our second home. Since our primary home is in South Georgia, the heat makes it uncomfortable for us to live there full time. In addition, my work requires me to spend a lot of time in Atlanta. Because we can drive to Waterfall in about an hour and 45 minutes from Atlanta, the location has turned out to be a perfect escape from the city and from the summer heat. When we come to this beautiful mountain-lakes area of NE Georgia, we can feel the stress of the week slip from our shoulders. We know we are NOT going to get stuck in traffic. We ARE going to be able to have a great meal without a wait-either at the club or in one of the fine local restaurants. We are NOT going to be hearing the sounds of the city, but instead, the breeze from the lake gently blowing the wind chimes on the screened porch is the sound we associate with the time we spend at Waterfall. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Waterfall community.

David and I rented a condo at Waterfall never guessing that we would become permanent residents. We grew up on Lake Burton and have lived in Rabun County for over 20 years. Choosing to buy a condo here is the best decision we have made. Waterfall has so much to offer, we have not regretted our decision at all. We don't play golf, but that does not matter. There is always something fun to do. The members and residents are warm and friendly. We keep a boat on Lake Burton. We can play all day, drive to the Waterfall dock where they will pick us up and take us to the Lodge for a delicious meal. Who could ask for more? The beauty here is beyond beautiful. We wake every day to a gorgeous view that never grows old. The joy we feel living here is beyond words.

My wife and I have been full time residents of south west Florida for the past five years. Although we love Florida during the winter months we find it quite unbearable during the hot and humid summer months. We started vacationing during July and August in the northern states to escape the heat. On our return to Florida this year we happened to stop by Waterfall at Lake Burton, which is a short drive up the mountain from Clayton. We were looking for a place with a higher elevation to get a break from the warmer temperatures and look throughout the area for a rental home for next year. We visited Hiawasse, Blairsville, Chatuge Lake and the Highlands. Every evening when we returned to Waterfall we were simply mesmerized by the beauty surrounding Waterfall. The elevation of 2,600 feet produced very pleasant breezes with little or no humidity. The golf course and mountain views are simply breathtaking. A planned two day stay turned into eight days and after a week of looking at house after house we decided that nothing really compared to Waterfall and purchased a world class villa. Our proximity to the club house and amenities make our location ideal. We can walk to everything. Our neighbors have made us feel so welcome we can't wait to return. Our plans are to live in Waterfall seven months a year. Best of all, it’s only a ten hour dive from southern Florida and easily done in one day. Stop by...you will fall in love too!

It is hard to believe that you can find a golf course as magnificent as Waterfall without five hour rounds in Atlanta's backyard. Waterfall has scenic hiking, golf, tennis, bocci ball, boating, fishing and a wonderful Lodge for gathering with friends. The Waterfall Club has attracted a dynamic, fun membership.
